Apply for a Bahamas Marriage Licence
Submit your details below and Glenn Ferguson — Licensed Bahamas Marriage Officer since 2001 — will review your documents, confirm exactly what you need, and guide you through the Registrar General’s process before you travel. No charge. No obligation.
What Happens After You Submit
The Bahamas marriage licence cannot be issued online — the Registrar General’s Department requires both parties to attend in person after 24 hours in the Bahamas. What Glenn does is make sure you arrive at that appointment with every document correct, so nothing delays your wedding day.
You submit this form
Tell Glenn your wedding date, island, marital status, and where you are from. Takes two minutes.
Glenn responds same day
He contacts you by WhatsApp or phone, confirms which documents you need, and asks you to send photos of what you have.
Free document check before you fly
Glenn reviews your passports, divorce decree, affidavit, or death certificate and tells you plainly whether they meet the Registrar’s requirements. If anything is missing, he tells you exactly what to get and where.
You arrive in the Bahamas ready
After your 24-hour residency requirement is met, both parties attend the Registrar General’s Department (or Out Island Commissioner’s Office) with everything in order. Glenn advises on timing to avoid delays.
Licence issued — Glenn officiates your ceremony
Your licence is issued the same day or next business day. Glenn then performs your legal ceremony, files the Marriage Duplicate Register, and ensures your certified marriage certificate is issued. Apostille service also available.
“Every couple who submits this form gets the same thing: a plain-language answer about whether their documents are correct. I have been working with the Registrar General’s office for 24 years. I know exactly what they accept and what they reject. Catching a problem before you fly takes five minutes. Finding it at the counter on the morning of your wedding costs you a day — sometimes more. Fill in the form. I will sort it.”

Bahamas Marriage Licence — Key Facts
What to Send Glenn for Your Free Document Review
Send WhatsApp photos of whichever of the following apply to you. Do not worry if you do not have everything yet — Glenn will tell you exactly what to get and where to obtain it before you fly.
Core Identity & Residency
- Both passports or government-issued photo ID
- Proof of entry date into the Bahamas (immigration card or entry stamp) — to confirm 24-hour residency once you arrive
Affidavit of Single Status
- A sworn declaration that you have never been married before — required by the Registrar General for all first-time marriages
- Glenn prepares your affidavit of single status in Nassau ($95) — you do not need to arrange this before you travel. Just let him know when you submit your form.
- US citizens: alternatively sworn at the American Embassy, Nassau (~$55 — appointment required)
- Other nationalities: can be sworn before an authorised official in your home country, or Glenn arranges it through a Bahamian Notary Public in Nassau ($95)
- Not the same as a birth certificate — Glenn confirms exactly what you need for your nationality
Final Divorce Decree
- Original or certified copy with raised or coloured seal
- Must be the final order — UK couples: Decree Absolute, not Decree Nisi
- European residents: original language plus certified English translation
Death Certificate
- Original or certified copy of the deceased spouse’s death certificate
- Where required: translated, certified, and notarised copy in English
Why Couples Trust Glenn with Their Licence
“I sent Glenn photos of our documents two weeks before we flew. He spotted that my divorce decree was a certified copy without a raised seal — which would have been rejected. We got the right copy posted before we travelled. The licence appointment at the Registrar’s took less than an hour.”
“Neither of us had been married before and had no idea what an affidavit of single status was. Glenn explained it clearly, told us where to get it sworn in Texas before we left, and confirmed on WhatsApp that it looked correct. Everything went smoothly at the Registrar General’s.”
“We were marrying on Exuma and were unsure whether we needed to go to Nassau for the licence. Glenn confirmed we could get it at the Commissioner’s Office on the island, checked our documents in advance, and performed the ceremony on the beach. Absolutely seamless from start to finish.”
