How Booking Works — 5 Steps

Everything from first message to certified certificate. Glenn manages every step so you never have to guess what comes next.

1

Send Glenn Your Details on WhatsApp

Both full names, ceremony date and time, island and venue (or type of location), ceremony type (legal / vow renewal / symbolic), arrival and departure dates, and whether either party was previously married. Glenn replies fast with availability confirmation.

2

Receive Your Exact Document Checklist

Glenn sends the precise document list for your situation — whether you are divorced, widowed, or marrying for the first time, and whether you hold a US, non-US, or Commonwealth passport. No generic lists. Your checklist only.

3

Glenn Reviews Your Documents Before You Travel

Send scans or photos of your documents before you fly. Glenn confirms everything is in order — correct format, correct certification, full birth certificates (long-form with parents’ names required; short-form rejected). No surprises at the Registrar General.

4

License Application (Day 2+ After Arrival)

After 24 hours in The Bahamas, Glenn escorts you to the Registrar General’s Department on Parliament and Shirley Street in Nassau. Open Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Visit takes approximately 20 minutes with correct documents. License costs $100 USD and is valid for 90 days.

5

Ceremony, Filing, and Certificate

Glenn performs the legal ceremony at your chosen venue. After the ceremony, he files the Marriage Duplicate Register (Form 9) with the Registrar General. You receive the certified marriage certificate ($20 government fee). If your country requires an Apostille, Glenn coordinates that too — 7–10 business days.

Can I book last-minute? Yes — Glenn accommodates last-minute bookings subject to availability. The absolute minimum for a legal wedding is 24 hours after arrival (mandatory residency) plus ~20 minutes at the Registrar General. WhatsApp Glenn immediately and he will tell you whether your timeline is achievable.

"The most common mistake couples make when booking a Bahamas wedding is thinking the resort or travel agent handles the legal side. They do not. The resort handles your venue and your event. I handle what makes it a marriage. That means I apply for the license with you at the Registrar General, I perform the ceremony as a Licensed Marriage Officer, and I file the paperwork that creates the legal record. Without that, you have a beautiful event — but not a legally recognized marriage. When you book me, you are booking the person who holds the specific government license required by Bahamian law. That is not a small distinction. It is the entire thing."

Why the Officiant’s License Is Everything

Why You Must Book a Licensed Bahamas Marriage Officer

Under the Bahamas Marriage Act, a marriage ceremony is only legally valid if it is performed by a Licensed Bahamas Marriage Officer or an authorized religious minister holding Bahamian licensing. There are no exceptions.

Resort coordinators, visiting ministers from your home country, ship’s captains, and travel agents cannot legally solemnize a Bahamas marriage — regardless of what they or a tour operator tells you. If the person performing your ceremony does not hold a current Bahamian Marriage Officer license, your marriage is not legally valid in The Bahamas and will not be recognized by your home country.

Glenn Ferguson holds the specific government-issued License required by law. He has held it since 2001 and has performed 200+ legal ceremonies across Nassau, Paradise Island, Exuma, Eleuthera, and Harbour Island.

Glenn officiates at beaches, private villas, resort hotels, gardens, boats, and private islands across Nassau, Paradise Island, Exuma, Eleuthera, Harbour Island, and other Out Islands. For resort venues such as Atlantis or Baha Mar, couples book the venue directly with the resort; Glenn then officiates as the Licensed Marriage Officer. He does not require you to book through any resort’s own wedding package.
