Glenn Ferguson — the Licensed Bahamas Marriage Officer who handles the legal side of your Atlantis Paradise Island wedding. I apply for the license, perform the legal ceremony, file the paperwork, and deliver your certified marriage certificate. Atlantis handles the venue. I handle what makes it legal.

Direct Answer — How Getting Married at Atlantis Works

Atlantis provides the venue, decor, and in-house coordination. The legal ceremony requires a Licensed Bahamas Marriage Officer — that is Glenn Ferguson. You need both parties in The Bahamas for 24 hours before applying for the marriage license ($100). Glenn escorts you to the Registrar General, performs the ceremony at your chosen Atlantis venue, files the Marriage Duplicate Register, and provides the certified certificate ($20). Understanding Who Does What

Glenn vs. Atlantis — Two Roles, One Perfect Wedding

Every Atlantis wedding has two distinct layers: the resort layer (venue, catering, decor, in-house coordination) and the legal layer (marriage license, licensed officiant, certificate filing). Atlantis handles the first. Glenn handles the second. Neither can replace the other.

What You Need Who Provides It Notes
Marriage license application Glenn Glenn escorts you to the Registrar General’s Department in Nassau
Legal ceremony officiation Glenn Must be performed by a Licensed Bahamas Marriage Officer — Atlantis coordinators cannot legally do this
Marriage Duplicate Register (Form 9) Glenn Filed with the Registrar General after the ceremony; creates the legal record
Certified marriage certificate Glenn $20 government fee; Glenn provides it as part of every package
Ceremony script + vows Glenn or Atlantis Glenn writes personalized scripts; Atlantis packages may include standard scripts
Venue booking + setup Atlantis Ocean’s Edge, Palm Point, Stingray Falls and all designated venues require booking through Atlantis’s wedding department
Flowers, decor, photography Atlantis Atlantis has worked with vendors including Wildflowers Bahamas (florals) and Bahamas Wedding Productions (photography) through their packages — confirm current preferred vendors with Atlantis directly
Catering, cake, reception Atlantis Resort packages cover food and beverage for the reception
Witness arrangement Glenn Two witnesses aged 18+ required by law; Glenn arranges if needed for elopements
Key legal fact:Under Bahamas law, only a Licensed Bahamas Marriage Officer can legally solemnize the marriage. A ceremony performed by anyone not holding that specific Bahamian license is not legally valid — regardless of what the resort or a travel agent tells you.

Atlantis Wedding Ceremony Venues — Where Couples Marry

Atlantis Paradise Island has more than 20 confirmed wedding and reception venues. These are the most popular ceremony locations, with Glenn’s notes on what makes each one work (and when it doesn’t).

Beach • Intimate

Ocean’s Edge at The Cove

The newest and most sought-after Atlantis venue. Perched on a white-sand dune just steps from the crystal-blue water, with an indoor pavilion and open beach deck. Ideal for modern, elegant ceremonies and adaptable to both intimate and larger groups. Glenn’s favourite for light and photography.

Beach • Iconic

Palm Point (Cove Beach)

Exchange vows under the iconic single palm tree on Cove Beach — Atlantis’s most photographed ceremony image. Simple, intimate, and unforgettable. Standing-only; suited to very small groups. Best for couples who want a pure, minimalist beach ceremony moment.

Beach • Rocky

Cove Point

A natural peninsula with a rocky beach backdrop, located at the tip of Cove Beach. Picturesque and private — a distinct venue from Palm Point. Ideal for couples who want an intimate beach ceremony with a more dramatic, natural backdrop rather than the open sandy shore.

Beach • Barefoot

West Beach / Ocean Steps

Steps descending to West Beach, with the Atlantic surf as your ceremony soundtrack. Barefoot-luxury at its finest. Ideal for two-person elopements and small ceremonies. No seating at this venue — pure, natural ocean backdrop.

Garden • Waterfall

Stingray Falls

A lush garden venue adjacent to a flowing waterfall. Intimate and sheltered — suited to a small group of close friends and family (Atlantis lists no fixed maximum; confirm capacity with their wedding team). One of Atlantis’s most popular options for simple and vow renewal packages. Serene, private, and beautifully photogenic.

Beach • Secluded

Paradise Beach (The Reef)

The most secluded beach location at Atlantis, tucked near The Reef hotel. Perfect for an intimate sunset ceremony with maximum privacy. Glenn recommends this for couples who want a beach feel without the resort foot-traffic of the main beaches.

Garden • Lagoon View

Dragon’s Patio

Intimate outdoor patio with a breathtaking view of Paradise Lagoon. Perfect for small ceremonies, welcome events, or vow renewals. The Bahamian sunset from this spot is extraordinary — plan ceremony timing accordingly for the best photographs.

Garden • Spacious

Spa Gardens

A spacious outdoor garden venue set between The Royal towers and the Dolphin Habitat. Works well for both intimate ceremonies and larger receptions. Lush tropical landscaping and privacy make it a versatile choice for most ceremony styles.

Grand • Views

Royal Overlook / Royal Deck

Panoramic views of the iconic Royal Towers with Paradise Lagoon in the background. Ideal for larger groups and more formal receptions. The Royal Deck seats larger parties; the Royal Overlook is a standout photo location. Best for weddings with 30+ guests.

Unique • Unforgettable

Dolphin Habitat

Exchange vows surrounded by Atlantis’s one-of-a-kind dolphin habitat for an experience no other destination wedding can match. Available through Atlantis’s wedding packages. Glenn has officiated here and describes it as the most memorable ceremony backdrop in The Bahamas.

Glenn’s venue tip: Not every venue suits every time of day. Wind, light direction, guest count, and resort foot-traffic all affect how a ceremony photographs and feels. Send Glenn your hotel, date, and time of day and he will advise the venue that works best for your specific conditions — not just the prettiest one on Atlantis’s brochure.
All Five Atlantis Hotels

Which Atlantis Hotel Are You Staying At?

Atlantis Paradise Island is a resort complex with five distinct hotels. Tell Glenn which property you are staying at and he will confirm the best meeting point, license timeline, and ceremony logistics for your specific hotel.

The Cove at Atlantis

Luxury adults-focused suites. Home to Ocean’s Edge — the resort’s premier dedicated ceremony venue. Glenn’s top recommendation for couples seeking a sleek, modern wedding experience.

The Royal at Atlantis

The iconic twin towers. Classic Atlantis energy and easy access to the Royal Overlook and Spa Gardens venues. Great for larger groups who want the full Atlantis experience as the backdrop.

The Coral at Atlantis

Family-friendly and centrally located within the resort complex. Easy access to most ceremony venues. Well-suited for couples with a mix of family guests of different ages.

The Reef at Atlantis

Residential-style suites with direct beachfront access to Paradise Beach — Atlantis’s most secluded ceremony location. Ideal for couples wanting a calm, intimate, private wedding atmosphere.

Harborside Resort

Villa-style accommodations near the marina. A strong choice for larger groups or multi-day wedding events. The relaxed villa layout suits couples planning an extended Bahamas wedding celebration.

Not Sure Which to Book?

Glenn can advise on which hotel puts you closest to your preferred ceremony venue and best suits your group size, budget, and overall experience goals.

Ask Glenn

"The most common question I get from Atlantis couples is whether they need to book Atlantis’s own wedding package to have a legal ceremony there. The answer depends on the venue. If you want Ocean’s Edge, Palm Point, or Stingray Falls, those are Atlantis-managed ceremony spots and require a resort booking through their wedding department. But the legal officiation — the license, the ceremony vows, the filing of the paperwork — that is my role regardless of what package you book with Atlantis. I have officiated ceremonies alongside Atlantis’s team for over twenty years. The two roles complement each other perfectly. What I tell every couple: book the Atlantis experience you want, then call me to handle the legal side. It is always cleaner that way."

How It Works

The 5-Step Atlantis Wedding Process

Glenn manages the legal steps from before you travel to after the ceremony. Atlantis manages the venue experience. Here is how it fits together.

1

Send Glenn Your Dates and Hotel

Arrival date, ceremony date, which Atlantis hotel, whether either party was previously married. Glenn confirms availability and your specific document list before you travel.

2

Prepare Documents at Home

Passport + full birth certificate (both parties), proof of single status declaration, divorce decree absolute (if applicable). Glenn verifies your documents before you leave home.

3

Apply for the Marriage License (Day 2+)

After 24 hours in The Bahamas, Glenn escorts you to the Registrar General’s Department in Nassau. Approximately 20 minutes with correct documents. License fee: $100. Valid for 90 days.

4

Glenn Performs the Legal Ceremony at Atlantis

At your chosen venue — Ocean’s Edge, Palm Point, Stingray Falls, or wherever you have booked. Glenn performs the ceremony, manages timing for photography, and adapts the script to your style and preferences.

5

Certificate Filed and Delivered

Glenn files the Marriage Duplicate Register (Form 9) with the Registrar General after the ceremony. You receive your certified marriage certificate ($20). Apostille available if your home country requires one for official use (7–10 days).

⚠ Glenn’s Packages Are an Independent Alternative to Atlantis’s Own Wedding Services

Glenn’s officiant packages are completely separate from and independent of Atlantis Paradise Island’s wedding department. They do not include the use of any Atlantis resort facilities — this includes designated ceremony venues (Ocean’s Edge, Palm Point, Stingray Falls, and all other Atlantis-managed locations), reception spaces, catering, flowers, photography, music, or any other Atlantis resort service or amenity.

To use an Atlantis ceremony venue or any resort facilities, you must book those separately and directly with Atlantis Paradise Island. Their wedding department can be reached at 1-888-528-9758. Once your Atlantis venue is confirmed, Glenn works alongside their team as the Licensed Marriage Officer who legally solemnizes the ceremony — a role Atlantis coordinators cannot perform. Couples who prefer not to book an Atlantis venue package can ask Glenn about alternative Nassau and Paradise Island locations that do not require a resort booking.

The Legal Detail Most Couples Miss

Why the Officiant’s License Matters at Atlantis

Atlantis is one of the world’s most well-known resort wedding destinations, but many couples arrive having been told by a travel agent, online planner, or resort coordinator that everything is handled by the resort. Technically the venue and event coordination is handled. The legal authority to solemnize the marriage is not.

Under Bahamas law, the ceremony must be performed by a Licensed Bahamas Marriage Officer or a registered religious minister holding Bahamian authorization. Resort coordinators, travel agents, and visiting ministers without Bahamian licensing cannot legally perform the ceremony. If they do, the marriage is not valid in The Bahamas — and may not be recognized by your home country.

"I have had couples call me the day before their ceremony after realizing that the person the resort arranged to ‘officiate’ is not a Licensed Bahamas Marriage Officer. It has happened more than once. In every case, we have solved it because I was available — but it caused unnecessary stress on what should be a calm day. My advice to every couple planning an Atlantis wedding: confirm the legal status of your officiant the same day you confirm your venue. It is a single question: ‘Are you a Licensed Bahamas Marriage Officer?’ If the answer is anything other than a direct yes with a license number, call me."

Atlantis Bahamas Wedding — Every Question Answered

The questions couples ask before booking an Atlantis wedding officiant.

Yes. You need a valid Bahamas marriage license (both parties present in The Bahamas for 24+ hours before applying; fee $100) and your ceremony must be performed by a Licensed Bahamas Marriage Officer. Atlantis provides the venue and coordination — the legal officiation must be performed by an independently licensed Marriage Officer like Glenn Ferguson. Glenn has officiated legal ceremonies at Atlantis for over 20 years.
Atlantis has in-house wedding coordinators who manage venue, catering, and decor. For the legal ceremony, the officiant must be a Licensed Bahamas Marriage Officer. Some Atlantis packages include an officiant arranged through the resort; couples can also hire an independent Licensed Marriage Officer like Glenn Ferguson directly, which often offers greater flexibility on ceremony timing, script personalisation, and cost.
Atlantis has 20+ wedding venues. Top picks: Ocean's Edge at The Cove (newest, perched on white-sand dune, indoor pavilion + beach deck); Palm Point (iconic lone palm tree, intimate beach); West Beach/Ocean Steps (barefoot-luxury, surf backdrop); Stingray Falls (garden waterfall, up to ~10 guests); Paradise Beach near The Reef (most secluded); Dragon's Patio (Paradise Lagoon views); Spa Gardens (between Royal towers and Dolphin Habitat); Royal Overlook (panoramic, larger events).
As early as possible once your Atlantis reservation is confirmed — especially December to April (peak season). Also factor in the 24-hour rule before applying for the marriage license. Glenn recommends messaging him as soon as you have your arrival and ceremony dates so he can confirm availability and map out the license timeline.
Atlantis's resort packages vary by guest count, venue, and inclusions — contact Atlantis directly for their current pricing. Government fees are fixed: marriage license $100, certified certificate $20. Glenn Ferguson's independent officiant packages start from $1,495 for an elopement and cover the license escort, legal ceremony, and certificate. Glenn can work alongside Atlantis's team or independently for couples not booking a full resort package.
Not for the legal requirements themselves — those only require a marriage license and a Licensed Marriage Officer. However, using Atlantis's designated ceremony venues (Ocean's Edge, Palm Point, Stingray Falls, etc.) typically requires booking through Atlantis's wedding department. Glenn advises on what requires a resort booking versus what can be arranged independently.
Yes. Glenn officiates vow renewals at Atlantis and across Nassau and Paradise Island. Vow renewals do not require a marriage license — only the officiant, the ceremony script, and your chosen guests. Glenn tailors vow renewal scripts to your story, length preference, and style. Available at any Atlantis venue.
Valid passport and full birth certificate (long-form, showing parents' names) for both parties. Proof of arrival showing 24+ hours in The Bahamas. Sworn declaration of single status (for US citizens/residents: from US Consul at American Embassy Nassau or Bahamian Notary Public; for others: from a Notary in your home country). If divorced: original final decree absolute with raised/coloured seal. If widowed: death certificate of former spouse. License fee $100. Certificate $20. No blood test required.
It depends on the location. Atlantis's designated ceremony venues (Ocean's Edge, Palm Point, Stingray Falls, etc.) are resort-managed and generally require booking through the Atlantis wedding department. Some other Paradise Island locations and Nassau beaches can be arranged independently. Glenn advises on which require a resort booking and which do not based on your specific situation.
Glenn handles the legal layer: marriage license application at the Registrar General, the legal ceremony as Licensed Marriage Officer, filing the Marriage Duplicate Register (Form 9), and providing the certified marriage certificate. Atlantis handles venue, decor, catering, and event coordination. The two roles run in parallel and complement each other. Glenn has worked alongside Atlantis’s team for over 20 years without conflict.
Call or WhatsApp Glenn Ferguson, Licensed Bahamas Marriage Officer, at +1-(242)-395-8495. Glenn has officiated legal ceremonies at Atlantis Paradise Island for over 20 years. He handles the marriage license application at the Registrar General’s Department, performs the legal ceremony, files the required paperwork after the ceremony, and provides the certified marriage certificate. Glenn can be booked independently of any Atlantis resort package and works alongside Atlantis’s in-house team.
